lol I've worked in half a dozen restaurants over 20 years. Thankfully I managed to get an education and escape that bullshit.

Things I've done while getting paid 2-4 dollars:

1. Sanding treated wood without protective gear.
2. Building shelves from scratch after cleaning out an ancient supply room.
3. Carrying things out of the owner's garage.
4. Cleaning clogged soda lines afterhours.
5. Cleaning bathrooms, including vomit and shit.

Did I get less than minimum wage OVERALL? No. Because I got the weekend night shifts for sucking ass and doing that illegal bullshit. Is it routine for restaurant owners to fuck over their employees because they can? Widespread. Restaurants, collectively, steal billions of dollars a year from tipped employees.
