The NBA should make it a point to legislate as much degenerate play out of the game as possible

one of the degenerate strategies that I've always hated is intentional fouls. they completely destroy the thrill of what should be the most exciting part of the game, grinding the last few mins down to nearly to a standstill.

intentional fouls aren't a basketball play, by definition are "unnecessary contact" and therefore should be called as flagrant 1s. same with "hack a shaq" strategy.

in soccer the referee can let the play go on if a foul would benefit the team that committed it. in football teams can decline a penalty if it'll hurt the team that was fouled. but for some reason in nba there's still this huge gaping exploit of the rules where you can break the rules to benefit yourself.
