I worked FOH (LSD and Bandit Lights) for many bands over the decades. Stadium and Arena shows on down to House of Blues type gigs. There was a huge difference between working for them in their prime, and then working for them years later, when they were nostalgia acts. The difference is incredible. I worked with a Stadium artist that would carry a mountain bike in his bus bay. Disguise up, and ride through the tail gate parties before the shows and never get identified. Imagine being a huge fan of an artist that you worked months to be able to buy a show ticket for. The guy rides up on your tail gate party and buys a beer out of your cooler and then rides off. All the while, you never knew you just interacted with your idol. Pretty cool to see happen, really. Worked for other artists that would grab an entourage and go to after hours clubs, full court press, high publicity. Those were interesting times. I also worked for acts with high profile drug problems. Tabloid level stuff. Covering that mess was always a task. Would never trade those experiences for the world.
