Neil deGrasse Tyson and Joe Rogan Debate Moon Landings - YouTube

I like both of these guys, but they missed some things. Neil deGrasse Tyson's argument that since the rocket was properly outfitted and the expected return of the astronauts occurred that it is evidence against a fabrication. It may be evidence, but it's not very strong since its far from unfathomable that those parts could have been done safely and easily, if money was no object, in order to more fully convince the public that NASA went to the moon. Everyone making the rocket could more easily believe the deception that way as well. Of course, the astronauts would know and some people at NASA would know no matter what. Other people wouldn't necessarily have to know. So, this is not solid evidence. Neither is the assertion that since people love to tell juicy secrets, there cannot be any juicy secrets kept if more than a few people know about them. That's just assumptive reasoning, the very same problem which Neil deGrasse Tyson works to alleviate by educating people about science. Trust in ideas that are not on solid foundations, that can be proven false with various scenarios, shouldn't be part of what one considers scientific thinking. Also dismissal of ideas without proving them false shouldn't be part of what one considers scientific thinking. Science works without knowing all of the answers. Experiments help to distill the hypothetical thinking down to what is not proven wrong.

Wouldn't a successfully faked lunar landing be a big political victory for the USA against Russia, at a crucial time for such a political victory, as long as it wasn't proven fake? Wouldn't that political situation be a strong motivation for fakery, especially if the technological means to do it weren't yet available and the President had already publicly set forth the goal in front of the world?

Neither brought up the lack of a blast crater underneath the lunar lander or the lack of dust on the lunar lander's feet. Neither brought up the missing crosshairs in some of the photos taken either. Maybe Neal deGrasse Tyson would have had some good answers for those issues if they were brought up.

It was a good discussion nevertheless.

Disclaimer: I am not endorsing the conspiracy theory that the lunar landing was faked. I am just pointing out my observations.
