Netflix stock plunges as company misses growth forecast.

They could stop curating stuff to what they think their customers want to see and just let us choose what we want to see. There's several (like a ton of) series and films available on Netflix outside Germany but inside Germany we have to get Sky or some other service which more often than not in my experience only offers them in german dubbing.

German dubbing sucks so bad. I'm a native english speaker and the voice actors they choose are so fucking jarring when you know the original voice. Like Avery Brooks, Christopher Judge, Keith David are some of the worst ones, they always seem to choose these high, almost falsetto voices. Kind of wondering if it's a racial thing because certain other characters that are white or asian that would suit the higher voice actors better get really deep ones. So weird.

On top of that a lot of the new things that I see on there are targeted at a narrower demographic. I'm not suggesting the market for korean horrors, romances and soap operas is non-existent outside of Korea but the number of people interested in a thing is always going to be lower than the number of people not interested in it.

Of course, Netflix now has to contend with every network and studio looking to launch it's own streaming service too, and they all want the full price. So in Germany if you want to access all the latest shows and movies you've got to pay €8.99 for Disney, €7.99 (the basic sub) to Netflix, €7.99 for Amazon Prime, €9.99 for SkyTicket's basic entertainment sub and €7.99 for Maxdome for a total of €42.95 per month, and that doesn't include the broadcast license fee some of which I presume goes to paying for all those domestic cop and romance shows that are apparently super popular because it's basically all they fucking make here. And that won't get you everything, because there's still some exclusives to other places or you've got to pay extra on Amazon for the "exclusive" channels. Sometimes a streaming service won't have all seasons either, you might get seasons 1 to 3 on Amazon, season 4 will be elsewhere like Maxdome while the latest season streams on Sky. And of course, like I said, good luck if you want the original audio...
