Never Lucky Appendicitis

My appendix ruptured in high school. It was during the summer and I waited almost five days before going to the doctor because I wanted to sleep it off and go away on vacation with my friends for a week. Needless to say that didn't happen. Felt exactly the same as Kripp described. Went to my family doctor who told me to go to the ER for a CT scan. I think, or at least that's what they ended up doing eventually. They saw appendicitis, gave me demirol for the pain, and booked me for surgery first thing in the morning with an overnight stay. They told me that I was very lucky and that it had already burst. Spent eight days in the hospital, including a second procedure because I wasn't draining properly from one of my laproscopic incisions. Almost a month recovery total including getting used to walking after so much bed rest plus lingering pain. Morphine drip on demand was kind of nice. Friends stopped by with gift baskets, CDs, magazines (early 2000s), etc. Worst pain was when they pulled the tubing out of me that was draining fluid. By that time I was off the morphine drip. Probably the worst pain I've ever felt besides the appendix itself.
