The new horror show “Them” is another gross example of Hollywood mistaking exploitation for empowerment (hardcore rant incoming)

To be fair... And ill point out that I am white. ... Black people bring up that they are black ALL of the time.

From my experience they make everything about race and their oppression.

The learned helplessness is nauseating.

I, too, am sick of the conversation. Not because it isn't valid, but because it turns an entire race into one dimensional flat characters.

From my view here is what you can do to make it stop.

Stop being passive and make your own movie, write your own stories, build your own monuments, etc.

No one is holding you back. But I don't think that is a conversation this country is ready to have.

I know I say this from a "place of privilege" But ever since my boyfriend opened my eyes it really just sickens me.

My boyfriend is the child of 2 mexican immigrant farm workers. He didn't get an education and was homeless throughout childhood.

He is now a surgeon. And his attitude is 100% America is the land of opportunity and I have a free education, free healthcare and im going to be the only Mexican American in my entire medical school.

Because he doesn't have learned helplessness. Because he strives for personal greatness.

Im just sick of the poor me im oppressed attitude. The reason you don't have black horror movies is because black people dont make horror movies. White people have to make them for you. And it feels off. We all know it. But thats because people like you expect it to be done for you. And its well... Disappointing.

Try foreign language films. Movies by black people in a black country. It wont have that weird wokism feel. It will feel genuine. I personally love Japanese horror.
