No written notice? No can do.

Worked night shift at a secure facility; the admin assistants to the top brass, who only work days, scheduled me for a training session at 11am one day. This admin assistants essentially ran the place, and no one crossed them.

When I complained to a supervisor about having to radically disrupt my sleep schedule, which could possibly trigger a migraine, he stated one of the admin assistants "verified" that they had spoken wjth me about the training session and that I said it was ok. I said that was blatantly false, and my supervisor (who technically also outranked the admin assistants, but not the top brass) got a shocked look on his face, and said, "Are you insinuating that [admin assistant name] lied about that?"

I responded, "Yes, yes I am." (I knew I was treading a dangrous line, but potentially risking a migraine got me REALLY pissed-off)

He actually got a worried/scared look on his face. The next day, he stated, "[admin assistant name] noted that she spoke with you on X day and also left 3 follow-up voicemail messages."

I responded, "No, she absolutely did not. If you want my cell phone call logs and voicemail logs, I will produce them. I do NOT appreciate people throwing me under the bus by blatantly lying." He looked REALLY worried when I said that.

The next day I found myself rescheduled for a much later training session, and never heard another peep from anyone about it. I could have dug myself into such deep shit with that move, but apparently standing my ground and threatening evidence of lying were enough to quell any power trip.
