Or the guy has a lot of money, good lawyers, connections with the police, and a gate so they would need a warrant to get into their home to speak to them. And if the guy hears about the accusation but does not get immediately arrested, or gets out, he knows who reported him and where they live so he would have time to find you. And with his life down the toilet he would have nothing to lose. That's the scariest part, knowing that likely nothing will be done, and he'll just be out free with a very personal vendetta against you. At that point it's better to just keep silent and pretend that everything is okay, because being traumatized is better than being dead.
