NOW it's official: "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Zooms Past "Avatar" With $6M Wednesday, $764M Cume. For the first time in forty years, a film not helmed by James Cameron, George Lucas, or Steven Spielberg is the biggest movie ever in North America.

First lets recap my comment.

  1. Its a retread. Seems you agree. All good here.

  2. Why do you feel TFA as it is now (ANH 2.0) is necessary to forget about the prequels when all it takes is a good star wars movie? You didnt answer this one.

Now ill respond to your comment.

  1. It is a retread of ANH, TPM, and hero with 1000 faces.
  • I agree with ANH. This is obvious to anyone

    • I think TPM is a bit of a stretch and pales in comparison to the similarities between ANH and TFA.
    • Hero with 1000 faces? How do you retread a book discussing the fundamental structure of important myths? Although a little confusing im guessing your saying TFA follows the structure (hero is presented with a challenge or obstacle, hero ovecomes, hero/community or both reap rewards) discussed in the book. You would be right. But thats not a retread. The story of Jesus (whether you believe it or not) shares this structure. So do many other popular stories/myths. TFA is not a retread (redoing/remaking/renewing) of the story of Jesus or The Oddysey. They just share the same fundamental structure.
  1. Plot points are not what we use to judge a story its the execution
  • I disagree. Why do you believe this? There are literally no rules for how someone can judge a movie. Also remember this is part of a series, so recycled plot points are especially undesireable. Especially to the extent that TFA goes to. Imagine someone continues LOTR after Frodo tosses the ring in and its his niece Frida 30 years later with a STRONGER ring headed to a BIGGER mt doom with new characters. Are you telling me that plot wont affect your judgement of the movie?
  1. Execution was excellent.
  • Give me details. How does it deserve an excellent rating for the execution? Your typing a lot of words but there isnt much substance to what youre saying.

  • Imo Id say it was good. More special effects and less cgi. Great cast. Beautiful scenes. But for me to say it was excellent

  1. Debate the point all you want but youre arguimg with numbers at this point.
  • Im not sure you even know what point Im debating. Originally all I was doing was reaffirming that TFA is in every way possible a retread.
