NYPD Officers Are Retiring In Droves Over Leadership’s Handling Of Riots, Officials Say

So what? This isn't a talking point. It's on par with people who say "there are people suffering worse in Africa" when someone talks about their personal struggles. Just because there are more dangerous jobs, doesn't make being a cop a safe, cushy job. It doesn't matter that cops don't die as often as people working in oilfields. There is a risk of being killed or injured every time they answer a call. Does it happen every time? No. Is there a possibility of it happening every time? Yes.

Think about EMTs. 90% of the time, an EMT will take calls that are cases of broken bones and superficial injuries. But every time they go on a call, they are prepared to be the difference between someone living and dying. Is it always that severe? No. But that's the risk they take every time they take a call. The same thing applies to cops.
