Right now, CA has the fifth largest economy in the world. They are self sufficient and could likely survive as an independent nation. Considering how much it contributes to agriculture, technology and the entertainment industry, we would likely feel the pinch before they would.

However, they are about to go ahead and leap into the abyss. Residents are fleeing in record numbers, crime is out of control, housing is unaffordable, wide open borders to the point it's non existent, jobs are leaving the state in unprecedented number and more. The COVID restrictions started the bell tolling it's death spiral.

It's going to go into freefall if something doesn't happen.
