Official Late-Comer Megathread - Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice [SPOILERS]

I am not a marketing machine, I swear. But I saw the movie a second time and I think the movie is great. I like it more on the second viewing, I loved it. The pacing of the film, the structure of the story telling, the themes, they all work. On the first viewing I didn't know what to expect and maybe was overwhelmed by everything that happens because the movie is dense. But it all works.

If you strip the movie of the comic book nature and see it as an example of the irrational fears of humans and relate that to what goes on in the world through media today, the terrorist attacks, the fear mongering: Senator Finch, Lex Luthor, and Bruce Wayne are examples of that irrational fear. Situations similar to the "Superman Incident" in Africa happen all of the time. Something happens half way across the world, no one really has any evidence or proof of what really happened and yet the incidences are used for political gain and posture and to incite hate. Bruce Wayne's story is about how terrorism effects those we know and how we want to fight back. And Lex Luthor is scared of having no control over figures of religion and wants to smear Superman's god like status. That why he wants Superman to kill Bruce. The reason, I think, that Superman has very little screen time is because figures of "controversy" tend to have arguments and debates had around them. Essentially their lives spoken for without having say in it. Superman can say anything but people will brand him how they want.

The movie is bookended by death that inspire Bruce Wayne into motion. In fact (maybe) in the scene where Bruce's parents are murdered there are two shots fired, at the public funeral of Superman two Army canons are shot. His parents murder makes him feel alone, Superman's sacrifice shows Bruce that there are others like him.

There's more but I'll stop. For my sake.
