He'd reveal that a cloned Palpatine had been secretly manipulating the New Republic and Leia's Resistance all along. He'd also manipulated war-profiteers into playing both sides of the conflict. This would be like a "rhyme" of the Clone Wars. He puppeted the New Republic and First Order into fighting so he could come in and take over the galaxy through the fog of war. In the end, it would turn out that Palpatine's control over them made them into a proxy force for him. The Resistance be the true "new Empire," and the new generation of heroes would have to rebel against the "Resistance" that we thought were "the good guys" to defeat evil once and for all (or until Episode 10 at least).
