On the Rise and Fall of Fire Emblem

And this is why I deleted my account / purged my history yesterday.

No one who commented in this thread watched the video. They disliked the title, made assumptions about the video's content, and downvoted. Juvenile.

I made this new account specifically to give you some feedback, /u/WhiteComet623. Because I feel this is a great analysis with room to get even better, and quality content deserves recognition. Here are my thoughts:

  1. Having a listenable voice is crucial for making lengthy videos enjoyable, and yours fits well. Delivery's a little monotone, but that's an easy fix.

  2. This may be a personal preference, but I'd like to see a little less time spent analyzing plot and a little more time spent analyzing gameplay and mechanics. Fire Emblem is not a series known for dazzling narratives.

  3. Product is well-edited. Music tracks and background video are varied, which helps keep viewer interest.

  4. I would strongly encourage you to pump out these videos sooner rather than later. Fire Emblem 14's getting released in a month's time and will dominate discussion on /r/fireemblem and most FE communities. Your videos will also start getting more reactionary backlash, since no one wants to hear about "the fall of Fire Emblem" while they're on an emotional high over the new game.

Really solid first effort here and I'm eager for more! Sorry this thread has been poorly received. Awakening is a sacred cow and /r/fireemblem is full of young, immature lurkers and casual players; that combination makes this a difficult place to offer smart criticism of popular games.

But keep fighting the good fight, I'll be rooting for you.
