Sony's Holiday season and first quarter this year were very good. However the first half of 2022 was the worst since PS5 launched. They not just missed their own targets and estimates in both quarters but also faced a decline in revenue & console sales according to Sony's financial report. Console sales in Q1 2022 hit the lowest point since PS5 launched - only 2 million consoles over 3 months. In the same timeframe Sony's stock lost 38.7%.

So that's the best year ever, huh?

Xbox had one of the worst ones

The financial reports suggest otherwise. In fact 2022 was the first year where Xbox outsold PS5 in some regions where it was not expected. The new consoles are still on pace to outsell all previous Xbox consoles.

Q4 2022 wasn't a bad quarter but just an average one. In Q1-Q3 2022 Microsoft saw an increase in sales and broke multiple region-specific Xbox sales records.
