Funny cuz I felt the opposite. While Dick and Babs weren't a couple back then their adventures together in the batman family comics in the 70s had them as a "dynamite duo" who started out as crime fighting partners and developed a commeraderie and friendship towards the end. I could picture how that could potentially blossom into a romance later on when Dick got older, which ended up happening in the 90s after they reconnected as Nightwing and oracle.

Meanwhile Dick and kory became a couple about 25 issues after meeting each other in ntt and during those 25 issues they barely interact or so much as had a one on one conversation. All they got was a throwaway flashback scene where Dick expresses jealousy about kory's new bf. All of kory's significant emotional beats were with Donna in those issues! Such as her consoling Kory after her bf was killed etc Dick doesn't so much as say a word to her during that time!

Then after Kory gets kidnapped Dick sudden realized his feelings for and I seriously thought I must've missed some issues in between or something cuz it felt like it came out of nowhere!

Idk I care about the build up to a relationship as much as the relationship itself which is one of the reasons I couldn't get invested in them cuz the initial stages of their relationship was incredibly rushed!
