First look - Lazarus Planet explodes with four January specials

I think a big problem with Damian's character is that he hasn't really been transitioned well into being Bruce's Robin. When he became Robin he was crucial to Dick's own story and path to becoming Batman, however after that other than few moments he has been more of a solo character. Just ask yourself, how much has Damian been essential to a Batman story post Robin son of Batman ( and I'd still argue he was also more of a Solo guy cause of the premise of the series and him wanting to face the consequences alone) other than Tomasi's detective comics. In the end He always will be Dick's Robin and that would be okay if DC treated it that way.

Another thing is overall even without the whole Lazarus planet stuff I don't know if I completely understand how is that a more interesting direction for his character in comparison to his direction in his recent series. Like if it's to establish him more in the magical side of DC wouldn't have been be better to put him on Shadowpact with characters like Tracy-13 and jakeem thunder and other younger magic users?
