The past six years I've been working at a Mcdonalds. Last night was the worst I've ever had.

The lady at the window is the only one trying to look out for you in this scenario. Your employee that didn't show up had a problem for quite some time. Not the one that started with his home life or the abuse or the drugs, but it was that feeling inside him that made him smile whenever he watched an animal die or a living being suffer.

That feeling that scared those close to him only gave him a feeling like he had never lived before. He found his purpose in feeding on the energy he sucked from those who were closest to him. Unfortunately, this night it was her again.

At first she thought he was the only one who understood her. Both loners, broken homes, they related in a way that made her feel he was born to complete her. Until she began to realize that his separation from society was different. He wasn't a product of his raising, but instead a source of his own pain. A hurt he brought to her in both physical and mental form.

One night the beating went too far. After a round of shoving didn't quite do it for him, he balled his fist for the first time and struck her so hard she saw black envelope her. Through the darkness she heard his startled gasps and what sounded like a whisper but at the same time a scream moaning "What have I done?!?"

The next brief moment of consciousness was when she was jostled by a sharp turn and her head his the top of the trunk lid. She had just enough time to see her torn white dress and scratches on her legs from being drug through the yard reflecting off the red light emitting from the brakes. Darkness returned.

David threw the last shovel of dirt across her entombed body at the end of that trail he used as a burial ground for his other trophies. That cat when he was 9. The neighbor's two dogs. Yes, he looked around and decided that this was the start of something. A hunger rose up in him that night that he wasn't sure could ever be filled. That wouldn't stop him from trying.

He mentally inspected the surrounding area. Not to make sure he didn't leave any clues as to what he'd done, but instead to gauge if there was room for more. He had no intentions of dragging this out. He knew he would be the prime suspect, and that the police wouldn't have to go much farther than her stupid friends to find someone who would turn on him. He had to act fast.

Her next moment of awareness came in a different form. This time she seemed to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time. She could see his thoughts and intentions like they were own, and it made her want to vomit. She knew she wasn't technically alive, yet still she felt she wasn't dead. She had a purpose, and only a moment alone with her... no his thoughts told her just what that purpose was.

William had always been the kind of manager that let things go to his head. Promoted at a young age, he often forgot that manager didn't mean slave driver. Yes, he would be the first on the list to join that stupid whore in a shallow grave. It's too late tonight to cash in on the adrenaline, but Wednesday night we're scheduled to work together again on a late night shift.

She had to warn him. She tried... He didn't get it... Would never understand... And never saw it coming. He thought that having him there would keep him safe. He couldn't have been farther from the truth.
