She hit the ground, headfirst.

Not the OP you asked, but their reply reminded me of a friend's experience.

I once worked with a guy who rented a haunted apartment in Maspeth, Queens.

He and his roommate both noticed moving cold spots (like from room to room randomly, no matter the season) and would get that feeling you get when you're not alone (even if they were), but neither felt threatened or scared so they were okay with it.

They had also felt the presence was female for whatever reason, and later this theory was backed up by the fact that anytime they had a female friend or girlfriend visit (I went over once or twice) the cold spot would stay in the laundry room for a day or a few days, like she was upset or jealous.

They'd also notice little things in different places or knocked over after times when any woman would visit, and it never happened when they had guys over to game. It also depended on the woman, like the presence was okay-ish with me because I wasn't dating either guy, but she still hid when I was there.

But the roommate's girlfriend at the time would stay overnight and even alone in the apt, and weird things would happen to her stuff. Any food she put in the fridge went bad first and once her makeup bag "fell" and spilled and some makeup got trashed, and she also lost a lot of jewelry any time she took it off in the apartment.

All of this I heard second-hand except for experiencing the cold spot in the laundry room myself, and hearing the guys nonchalantly talk about their "third roomate."

They said something to the landlord once and he basically confirmed it, saying he only rented to men and that most of the time they don't even notice. They moved out a couple years later without any major incidents.

Looking at where their location was on Google Maps, I realized they were basically located btwn two cemeteries (Maspeth has a lot of them) so maybe that has something to do with it.

I have to wonder if America is really much more haunted than people like to think, we're just not a culture that's very in tune w those kinds of things. But if you're willing to see it, they're there.
