Penguin Trap the Best Game in Japan

I ordered this Penguin trap game for my kids to add to their board game selection and because they've seen similar games advertised on tv. The instructions were a little odd due to the apparent translation to English, but it's a simple game and the kids usually make up their own directions anyway.

This is supposed to be good for players age three and up. My six year old had no problem other than the hand-eye coordination of choosing and hammering only one little "ice blocks". Also, an adult or older child would need to put the last few blocks back in because they are harder to get snapped in place.

This game came with enough "ice blocks" to fill the board and one extra. I have no doubt the extra will be needed, although you could still probably play the game with missing pieces.

This game is similar to Jenga in that certain pieces cannot be removed without the whole thing falling down. It takes longer to put it together than to play the game, but that doesn't matter to my six year old. She just made a game of putting it back together. Using different patterns, some upside down, putting stickers on them, etc. The game has actually held her interest longer than I thought it would. we have enjoyed this game and I think it's worth the price.
