This is why we need to stop naming shooters in the media. They want infamy. You're definitely right. It is one way to be remembered for a very long time. Mass shootings, particularly school shootings, have been glamorised. This is the harsh truth. We are fascinated by them. We need to stop giving them so much attention and turning them into a media circus. Yes, journalists need to report on shootings, but wouldn't the shooters that are looking for infamy be dissuaded if they knew they wouldn't be named? We need to keep them nameless. It doesn't look like guns will be banned anytime soon so we need to tackle the root cause- glamorisation. Today the Columbine shooters still have 'fans' who make edits of them on Tiktok and other platforms. We need to stop this.
