People with "smart homes", what's the best smart thing you've added to your home?

I live in an NYC apartment building.

my front door is really annoying to open. key always gets jammed. i have a lobby door buzzer. i tried the button-pressers that were already on the market. SUPER fucking buggy with bluetooth and wifi and shit.

Well I'm a computer engineer. During CoVID I did a little project I thought was pretty cool.

My window faces the front lobby door. I put a webcam to record it. trained a model to recognize my body+face. it was annoying cuz it took a while with me going in and out everyday.

prototyped out a servo button-presser with wifi. got it working.

i have a cnc. milled a PCB with and hooked it up to the buzzer.

now it auto-buzzes my lobby door when i get to it. dont have to pull out my keys anymore.
