There is only one thing you can do that gets you banned for life. One "crime" within the game that is worse than all others. One thing that can never be forgiven. You do not under any circumstances get involved in betting on the sport in any way, shape or form.

He broke that one rule. And accepted the punishment.

It's pretty simple. You do not bet on baseball. Period. That's all you have to do and you won't be banned from the game forever.

The only part I disagree with is that Pete Rose isn't on par with the Astros. What Pete Rose did is the single worst thing you can do. Even the cheating Astros of the last few years didn't do what he did. The Astros actions are disgraceful and leave a stain on the game. But they still didn't do the only thing you can never, ever do.

He did it. And he's done. For the rest of his life.
