yeah it's become extremely clear that even the most well trained, loved, incident-free pitbull can snap at the drop of a hat. and when they snap, they don't see things the way humans do, where the difference between killing a rat in the basement and a human infant is the fucking world. they're just too god damn dangerous. i mean it's the same deal with chimpanzees... they can be an amazing friend and pet for years and then one day it snaps and rips off all your fingers and eats your face. the mere fact that it's capable of doing that means that most people recognize that it isn't a pet that can be domesticated. and yet here we are...

when the punishment for your dog not being well trained enough is that someone dies rather than you step in pee on your carpet, time to re-evaluate what we consider to be "domestication"
