Pick up a small dog or not if attacked?

I never wanted the dogs out down. It wasn’t ever really an option, but regardless, putting them down isn’t what I wanted. I wanted them to not exist as pets to begin with.

I only suffered scrapes, scratches, bruises, and a few minor puncture wounds on the bottom of my feet and ankles from kicking and flailing wildly at the one that hadn’t latched. My hands were scraped up but nothing like you would think after having them in this pits mouth for several minutes,. Again, if those pits had wanted to hurt me, they could have and would have. Although, I still question if it had been a toddler they keyed in on, if they would have done the same thing.

Both my current neighbors have owned pit bulls. And I live in a dense suburban townhouse development. The one who was owned by the qanon cult asshole to my left would try to barrel through the fence to get to my dog. He has since disappeared, under what circumstances IDK.

The folks to my right have two pit bulls, one is pure bred and massively muscular. They are far better behaved and trained, but still, they would rip my dog to shreds I’d they got the chance.

I don’t let him out in my entirely fenced in backyard alone anymore, and I keep blunt force weapons and chemical sprays at hand. Plus I now have cameras everywhere.

A lot of things in my life changed after the attack.
