This plastic bottle wrapped in torn cardboard to “celebrate mothers earth”.

Nope. Shampoos need to have a 3-year shelf life, otherwise, they are required to print an expiration date. The inner bottle is made on Hdpe or Mdpe, and needs to be a minimum thickness to provide the necessary barrier properties to prevent the formula from oxidizing or permeating through. Most regular plastic shampoo bottles are already at that minimum thickness, so this “hybrid” bottle is just complete bullshit.

The actual benefit pf this bottle is to allow the artwork to be printed over the the entire surface, including the compound curves. The only other way to do that is with a plastic shrink-sleeve. Biolage went with this because they replaced the plastic shrink sleeve with paper. However, it does make the bottle unrecyclable since people will think it goes with mixed paper. If you put this on a plastic recycling line, it will get rejected by the IR camera before the shredders break it down and drop it into the water bath.
