these are the facts:

most people didn’t know what supreme was before 2016. 2016/2017 introduced extreme hype, this caused 2 takeovers. When $500M then $2B is invested, inventory goes up exponentially to justify the investment. jebbia isn’t as involved, effort plummeted and the people who made supreme worth the hype won’t touch this new shit with a 10 foot pole.

supreme is now trying to ride nonexistent hype with low effort releases in high volume.

this is not sustainable. expect a whole new strategy very soon.

You’ll either get another dead streetwear brand that once had absurd hype (how many of you have heard of the hundreds?) or more likely something like stussy which unfortunately is a best case scenario.

I’m gonna put this in perspective for the “i’m new here, what happened?” or the “I have clout because I bought something 6 years ago on a web store that didn’t used to exist.” groups

the most currently sought after pieces didn’t used to sell out for hours/days/weeks. i’ll give three examples: tnf expedition day/night or maps, raekwon/dipset photo tees and my personal favorite (which I though I got ripped off on by paying a kid $70 for on lafayette street) the pollock box logo.

good luck not finding supreme in every suburb or city high school.

you can disagree or get passed iff because you bought some shit that lost its value but you probably never spotted the supreme jersey on redman in how high (2001).

yes im probably above the average age of this sub. I saw todays release and though to myself, as the title says, “what happened?”
