As a male of similar age who has tried all of these types of products and more I'd recommended a much simpler routine.
Wash once a day, or even better every other day if possible.
Apply retin-a at .05% strength (not a retinol, its just not nearly as effective) every other day, preferably at night 30 minutes after a wash. Don't put anything else on your face if you can avoid it, let the retin-a penetrate.
Use a moisturizer daily or as needed and if when headed into the sun a zinc oxide SPF.
Avoid toners with AHA/BHA - too much irritation and retin-a is creating more than enough exfoliation. It's likely to make your skin look worse.
Use high % AHA/BHA as a monthly peel, I recommend glycolic acid at 50-70%
If you want to do more and get the most out of your skin make a fresh vitamin c serum on the days you don't use retin-a and put it on before bed. Look up a recipe on this forum
You can also use argan oil before bed with the vitamin c serum, they seem to work well together
