How do you know that Overkill is going to add content to the current infamy system? Did they tell you something they didn't tell us?

That's the mistake that Overkill keeps making. They aren't properly managing the expectations of the community to the point that they create unrealistic or downright misleading expectations. Almir specifically said in his AMA 6 months ago that he wanted the new infamy levels to do more than give cosmetic stuff, and what we got was even less than that. Over half the new infamy levels don't give you anything aside from more EXP. So right there we have something that fell short of the expectations that the company set themselves. They could have just said that future infamy levels won't be as cool because they don't want the power creep to get out of control and people wouldn't have gotten up in arms about the update because it MET EXPECTATIONS. Expectations are so easy to meet when you're setting them yourself, so why overpromise? Almir set Overkill up for failure on this one if they really didn't have the resources to make infamy 2.0 as cool as the first infamy update.

"But it's free! Why complain about something that's free?" First of all, nothing is free. Content that you give away at no cost to the consumer promotes your brand, encourages brand loyalty, and in the case of video games, brings players back to the game who may have gotten bored of it, thus increasing your DLC penetration. Free updates are not the developer "throw us a bone." Free updates are a necessary part of keeping a customer base playing your game, so it isn't a favor or a charity, it's a necessity for the developer. If the update is bad, people will be upset that it compromised the quality of the game, so the game we like is LESS FUN. Second of all, if a company can't deliver on expectations they set about something that's free, why should the customer trust the company to deliver on expectations for something that does cost money?
