So you are ready to get a server. Let's look at the main servers and choose what server you should play on. I will be covering the 5 most popular servers.

The servers will be organized in 3 categories: RP level, shenanigan tolerance and the code base:

Goon station:

Code-base: goon code (duh) RP level: light (the admins wont care if you RP or not but they do care if you metagame(metagaming is using in character-information in out-of-character if its bad enough it can ruin the round)) Shenanigan tolerance: high if you do it to your self but low if you do it to others (so don’t grief) Notes: goon was the first server and is arguably the most popular

/tg/ station

Code-base: Sybil and badger run /tg/station code(programmers search tgstation/-tg-station on github)

RP level: medium(same as goon but they don’t like ooc in ic and they want you to talk like a real person(so no lol or:-))

Shenanigan tolerance: like goon but a little more strict Notes: tg station uses goon code when they briefly went open source and is rising up the list of most popular servers(on a fast day they can get 90 players)

Bay station 12: Code-base: Baystation 12 RP Level: Heavy(don’t play on this server until you understand the basics of RP or you might get yelled at by the admins or banned)

Shenanigan tolerance: Low. While they encourage being original, they do not encourage craziness, and players are expected to role play as characters that would have probably been hired on a state-of-the-art Space Station, as opposed to the mental hospital’s rejects.

/VG/ station: Code-base: a crazy blend of /tg/ code, baycode and witchcraft RP level: light (You aren’t expected to be perfectly in-character 24/7, nor are you expected to pretend not to know what a changeling or a traitor is. But, you are expected to not ruin the immersion of other players) Shenanigan tolerance: medium to high depending on the admins(just like goon don’t grief)

Yogstation Code-base: tg modified RP level: medium Shenanigan Tolerance: Low to medium. Varies depending on the Admins online.
