It was extremely difficult, but I think I got it down:

10. Speed Of Sound - My favorite song on X&Y. The piano riff is amazing, the overall feel is breathtaking, Chris Martin's performance is top-notch, the lyrics are beautifully written, and the video is one of my favorite Coldplay videos. It's very impressively done and it has a certain atmosphere to it that makes it all the more fantastic.

9. [Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall](m.youtube.com/watch?v=fyMhvkC3A84) - This is one of the happiest Coldplay songs out there. The chorus is absolutely heavenly, and the following guitar riff is wonderful, probably my favorite guitar moment in their entire discography. This is a fantastic, energetic, Summer-y song that I can't get enough of. Also, it has hands-down my favorite music video.

8. [Christmas Lights](m.youtube.com/watch?v=z1rYmzQ8C9Q) - This is quite possibly my favorite Christmas song of all time. It starts off sad and somber, but as the song goes on, it slowly picks up, both musically and emotionally. It starts as a lament, but ends upon acceptance, and that just puts you in a good mood. Musically, the song gets the idea of Christmas perfectly, with the beautiful piano playing and all. We need more good Christmas music like this.

7. A Sky Full Of Stars - Coldplay and Avicii. The greatest band currently working and the greatest EDM producer currently working. What could possibly go wrong? Well, nothing, it seems, as this song is incredible. This is one of the absolute greatest examples of modern EDM I've ever heard. It's absolutely beautiful, the crescendo is chill-inducing, the beat drop is unbelievable... it's fantastic all around, and I'd love to see these two collaborate more often.

• This is just a great piano ballad. Very emotionally-driven, beautifully performed, the piano and guitar are both exquisite... this song is just fantastic, and easily my favorite on Parachutes.

5. Death And All His Friends/The Escapist - This is how you end an album. Death And All His Friends is just beautiful. It has an epic guitar riff, amazing vocals, that epic shift in tempo halfway through, and the chorus is one of the best I've ever heard. Period.

The Escapist is just unbelievable. It's so absolutely breathtaking that something so this short and simple could be so strikingly beautiful. It's the perfect finisher for the album, and really shows what the band are capable of. It's easily the best of the two halves of this track.

4. Clocks - This song is a classic, through and through. Everybody knows this song and what makes it so great. The iconic piano riff, the encompassing atmosphere, Chris Martin's fantastic singing... this is one of those songs that everybody knows, and I personally love it to death.

3. [Charlie Brown](m.youtube.com/watch?v=zTFBJgnNgU4) - This song is the very representation of innocence, childhood wonder, and overall good vibes. It's an all-out stadium-filling anthem. It's one of the most colorful, energetic, fun songs in history. This song, for me, represents all the ideas and concepts an themes in Mylo Xyloto wrapped up into this one song. Creativity, freedom, wonder, innocence, happiness. It is a truly special song.

2. A Rush Of Blood To The Head - And on the other side of the emotional spectrum, we have one of the most heartbreaking, gut-wrenching tearjerkers I've ever heard. This song tells the story of a man slowly losing his grip on sanity, causing an endless rain of destruction out of no reason except trying to please his loved one, who is trying to make him stop commuting all these heinous acts but... failing, as he slips further and further into madness. It's one of the saddest stories I've ever heard, musical or not, and what's especially shocking was that this song was written in the wake of 9/11, so there is some connection here.

There are lots of little touches here and there, like the faint sound of a fire truck siren of the line "some would just sit and cry"... it's a real heartbreaking piece, and it's one of the few songs that actually put me on the brink of tears. It is that powerful.

1. [Viva La Vida](m.youtube.com/watch?v=dvgZkm1xWPE) - This is my favorite pice of music in history. Everything about this song is amazing. It's regal, epic, chiming, truly beautiful music that I can't help but truly admire. Charting the story of a one-time king whose empire has fallen, it is expertly written and keeps the tone of the music perfectly.

Speaking of the music... oh my god, the music. The violins, drums, bells, all the elements just come together so well, making something all-encompassing and really powerful.

I don't know if I'll ever hear a song that can top Viva La Vida. And if not, I really don't care. If this remains the greatest song I've ever heard for the rest of time, well, then I'd say I'm pretty well off.
