questions about freemasonry

  1. I was always drawn to the mysticism surrounding Freemasonry. I am also a major history buff and noticed a lot of the major free thinkers and brilliant minds of the last several hundred years were Freemasons so I had to check out what was so special about it.
  2. I absolutely love it.
  3. Simple answer: we swore an oath to not divulge them.
  4. I don’t know a single Freemason that isn’t religious in some form or another. You must process a belief in a supreme being to be eligible as a member.
  5. For some that question is yes and for some that question is no. You get out of Freemasonry what you put into it. For some they may go through the degrees and think that was it? Perhaps for some of those people the teachings go straight over their head. The ritual for some of them might not be their thing but the social aspect is and that is fine as well. For others who understand to a degree the teachings and want to delve deeper into the meanings and symbols there is a never ending supply of thought exercises in masonry and inward contemplation/reflection in order to better yourself.
  6. That’s amazing! I would say that globally the religion of members is similar to the general demographic. In the USA it’s mostly Christian. However in other countries it may be primarily Muslim or Buddhist or Jewish etc.
