Yes, but I have no idea how far into Brooklyn you are going. At the very least:

Lyndhurst to Hoboken on NJT is 22 minute ride. Hoboken trains do not have the same tunnel delays Penn station bound trains have.

Then if you take Hoboken path to wtc, that is another 11 minute ride.

If you're going to... I dunno... Jay/ metro tech, that's about another 15 min from WTC/ Fulton street on subway.

That's a good hour of commuting to get to downtown BK. I would at least try this route before moving. It's essentially using the hypotenuse between your area and Brooklyn, which shortens the trip considerably. Also, whoever told you to take the bus to pabt wasn't looking out for you at all. I've taken the 99/44 in if its early enough in morning, but Id never take it home. Way too much tunnel traffic and there's no express bus lane.
