to be in a clique, it isn't enough just to be comfortable with someone in it, you need to fit in with the whole group's dynamics and that includes all the stuff like having common topics to talk about, sharing the same humour etc. people will only be invested in you when you are invested in them, so naturally when you weave in and out, they'd just think that that's what you like doing. what makes you comfortable? i thought you were against the whole idea of cliques anyway.

it's also normal to feel this way, the truth is sometimes we just can't find a place for ourselves. getting along well with everyone means nothing if you can't form any deeper connection with them, but that is so much easier said than done. if you want to be in a clique and there's a group of people that you mesh well with, i find that things will often just fall naturally into place without you having to do much. if most of who you're close to are already in the superclique however, then there's simply not much you can do (except try again next year). in that case, just focus on the other aspects of school and be content with being your own best friend.
