For instance, there are three ancient ethnic groups that make up most of Europe. They are hunter-gatherers (natives), “farmers” (Middle East migrants, but not exactly related to today’s Middle Easterners) and something called Yamnaya which are from the steppes of Russia/Ukraine. These groups can be subdivided further (I.e. east/west) and the last group is believed to possibly be the progenitors of Indo-European languages. There are also unrelated groups that live in Europe as well but they are small in comparison. Notice that none of these groups go back to the caucuses. And of course, if you follow the lineage all the way back, it goes to Africa.

The more Northern Europeans tend to have less “farmers” and more of the other two. Southern Europeans vice-versa. If you take a DNA test a lot of this can be personalized for you so you can see what your actual make-up is.
