I agree that 90% of the gender issues discussed in the media right now are entirely bullshit that's been created to cause controversy. Actual issues are almost never discussed and instead a bunch of sensationalist idiots drone on about whatever they think will be shocking.

I understand everyone hates labling themselves as anything nowadays because it makes them a target but I don't think labels are bad as long as they're not used to define what a person is entirely. I use the label because other people who believe similar things that I believe use it so it's an easy way to identify my very basic beliefs. It's being turned into a dirty word now in the media(though, in fairness to many actors/actresses, people are trying to fight that) but I don't think that should happen. The same way I don't think the Westboro Baptist church should get to define Christianity (though I'm not religious) and the same way I don't think Sean Hannity should get to define Conservatism (though I'm not a Conservative). I don't hear either of those terms and assume the person identifying that way is an extremist.

I don't believe every member of a huge group should be responsible to apologize for the terrible members of the group because I already assume that most people are not the extreme and have no experience with them. I would never support Suey Park because she's a moron with a clear agenda that doesn't relate to any ideology and amounts to "Hey, look at me!" I don't think that because I identify under the broad label of feminism that my days have to be spent apologizing for this woman either though. We have nothing in common, and she doesn't even seem to understand what feminism's stated goal of equality is. If I'm supposed to spend my days addressing people like her then I'd be utterly off topic and never get anything done in the actual important movement of feminism.
