Ranged Weapons and Autofire

Is this for CoD 2E?

I was told from numerous sources going by the older (New/CoD1) World of Darkness core and Armory that you are actually supposed to add weapon modifiers into the roll not after, as there are quite a few weapons that have penalties (particularly archaic ones I use in a Victorian Campaign)

The book and other uses on here claim that it works as follows:

Let's say I want to shoot a target that has a Full Knight's Armor (Ballistic rating of 3). I have Dex 3, Firearms 3 and my Flintlock does -1 to hit.

My roll is now 3 (Dex) + 3 (Firearms) - 1 (Flintlock)

Let's say I get 4 Damage. They absorb 3 Damage, and I cause them 1 Bashing due to their armor.

I imagine what you say about the Auto fire is correct by adding it to the role, I just don't think you add weapon modifier after the roll.
