Is there an easy way to grasp H5 character creation?

H5 hunters are just regular people so yea most of the stuff is going to be who you know that might help you or the gear you can get (which isn't going to be super powerful or magical usually). There are no special powers or mechanics like reckoning imbued hunters. That isn't to say they can't be effective, but they need to rely on preparedness and tactics to face munsters. That being said, a well-rounded group with a fighty guy with a big gun and an underground resources person to get Intel and help lay traps, and maybe a hedge mage type "might" be able to take a lone werewolf or maybe a small group of vamps. Any bona-fide mage or spirit entity wouldn't even be in the same universe of possibly, though.
