I know I'm late to the party but its an entertaining story!
I was 17 at the time and just started dating my new girlfriend. I got the idea she should spend the night at my parents house. Since our high school was only a mile from my house she decided instead of getting picked up by her mom she would just walk to my house and not inform her mom.
My parents house is a very old house with a basement,which was my bedroom, and my parents almost never went down there so I said she could stay there all night and wouldn't be seen or heard.
after she was there for about 3 hours I got flooded with calls from her friends and family asking if I knew where she was. I said no to all of them including her mother who i could tell didn't buy my bullshit.
So about 6 hours pass and its one in the morning I'm lying on my bed thinking Ive gotten away with it when I see from the window in my basement lights flashing outside. I Freak out. Run upstairs and go up to the back door of my house and up walks a police officer holding a flashlight. I knew why he was here.
Now at the time I was only 17 and I had very limited knowledge on the law so it didn't occur to me I could've told him to fuck off and come back with a warrant when he demanded I let him in asked that he have a look around the house. I a said she wasnt here and he could take a look for himself. He then proceeded to walk through every room in the house including my parents room where they were sleeping.
Finally we're staanding in my living room and hey points down stairs and asks what's down there. I told him it was my room and he says he has to look down there as well. As we're walking down the stairs to my bedroom I have no idea what's going to happen when that officer gets down into my room.
When we get to my room I see the pile of pillows that she's hiding under next to my bed. He surveys the room with his light just long enough to focus on the bong sitting on my window sill. He walks back up the stairs asks me a few more questions then leaves.
My parents never woke up they still don't know that she stayed that night or that the police were even in their house.
I still can barely fathom how lucky I was that night.
TL/DR: MY HIGHSCHOOL GIRLFRIEND RAN AWAY AND SPENT THE NIGHT AT MY HOUSE. COPS SHOW UP AT 1AM LOOK AROUND MY HOUSE AND DON'T FIND HER. MY PARENTS DON'T WAKE UP AND TO THIS DAY DON'T KNOW ANY OF THIS HAPPENED.
