Reddit, what are your wedding horror stories?

Our reception was at an old mansion in a summer evening and we were using the whole house, inside and out. There was a massive yard and beautiful landscaping, so while the sun was still up the bridal party was doing photos out in the garden. While out there, a single server on the catering staff was assigned to Bridal Party Only. His job was to fetch us apps and drinks while we were so far away from the rest of the party. It was honestly one of the perks of this caterer specifically. Meanwhile the guests were 'supposed' to be in the house with the DJ, the open bar, and the rest of the food.

After we put in our first order, my wife asked her mother to "get the family" together for a photo. She meant her immediate siblings, but my MIL decided "family" meant every single person who could possible be related to us. Like we were going to do a photo of the entire guest list?? After she rounded everybody up we all had a laugh at the misunderstanding...but they didn't disperse.

Everybody stood outside in the garden area, thumbs up their asses, chatting and drinking and looking at the pretty trees or whatever. All our cousins and grandparents and friends and coworkers became an impenetrable bubble of ravenous beasts. The bridal party was surrounded, and permanently separated from our dedicated server. Did he persever? NO. This poor kid had ZERO balls. He didn't have it in him to tell ANYBODY that his tray was ONLY for the bride. So sure as shit, he was picked clean before ever getting anywhere near us again. We never saw our drinks. We never saw our apps. We had already paid the caterer for the extra dedicated staff...

(Obviously we didn't starve, but we did have to call the photoshoot early to eat and then resume inside after the sun set.)
