Reddit, what is your crazy neighbor story?

TL,DR: One of my neighbors murdered, then kidnapped, a flock of peacocks. This isn't really that crazy compared to the other stuff on here, but it did make me really angry. When I was in high school, my family lived in a rural small town, in a neighborhood that had a lot of trees and wooded areas. Once upon a time, there was an old man that lived up the street and kept peacocks, but he had died by the time we moved in and the peacocks became feral and roamed around our neighborhood in a big flock. The neighborhood was basically divided into those who liked them, and those who hated them. My family adored them, and they would spend a lot of time on our property. Yeah, they make weird, loud noises, but they didn't bother us, we thought they were just beautiful. One of our neighbors decided that she hated these birds. Like, so freaking much. She tried to rally the whole neighborhood into getting rid of these birds, but lots of people loved seeing them around, and she didn't get enough support. We heard way after the fact through the grapevine that she started putting out poisoned food for them to eat, and a few died. I guess she felt they weren't dying fast enough because one day, my sister was hanging out in the front yard and witnessed this lady hit a peacock with her car, purposely. There is a busy, two lane road right in front of our house and the peacocks would often cross it. Sister said the lady sped up, hit the bird, then backed up and ran it over again before driving away. We were horrified. I'm pretty sure we tried to report it but the police didn't do anything about it. Well, turns out poisoning and running over a twenty-bird flock is logistically problematic. Somehow this person solicited enough help to trap all the birds in secret, drive them to the next town over and release them. It actually made the news. The people in the next town over were like, "where in the hell did all these freaking peacocks come from?!" and we were all like, "where in the hell did all our peacocks go?" We were so sad, lots of people missed them. But guess what? Karma is sweet-- this lady apparently did all this stuff because she claimed the birds woke her up in the middle of the night every night, all year long. This was totally provably false, they didn't make their cawing noise in the winter, and they didn't do it all night long, or even early in the morning. But whatever, she insisted she couldn't live with them in the neighborhood due to the "noise." Well, as it turned out, when she finally kidnapped them all she forgot one. One solitary bird was too quick them and refused to be caught. This whole thing happened easily 10+ years ago, and this bird is STILL roaming around the neighborhood all by himself, (presumably sad and lonely) and makes the most glorious cawing sounds in the hot summer evenings. I'm pretty sure that lady is still there, and I like to think that she can hear each and every glorious screech he makes.

Also, he's gotten really tame and will eat out of your hand if you're patient with him. Here's a pic: http://imgur.com/gallery/qz1zw
