Reddit, whats the worst way you've been treated by staff when at a retail store or restaurant?

Back when I was in college, my sister joined me for lunch one day. We're walking around and we go to this restaurant to grab a drink. I didn't really live in a college town, so this wasn't exactly a college bar - actually, a pretty nice Southwestern-style restaurant. We sit down and notice someone shining a laser pointer around. (This was back when those things were all the rage.) Then we see another and another. We couldn't figure out where they were coming from, but whoever was shining them had keyed in on us. My sister and I are having a conversation and continuously, these little red dots keep showing up on our clothes, our table, our drinks and everything right around us. Finally, I quickly turn around and find 3 dudes peeking between the swinging doors of the kitchen, shining them through. They stopped, but a few minutes later they started back. After about 30 minutes of this, I've had enough and ask to speak to a manager. This manager guy comes out and was kind of snarky, but said he'd handle it. He turns around toward the kitchen, then comes back and pulls up a chair and says something about my sister being hot and asks if he can get her number. My sister is giving me this weird look and we're both kind of shocked at how bad and unprofessional this place is. She responds back with "uhh. No - see, I'm gay. No offense, but I'm not like that." (which is a lie - she's straight; we're both straight).

The manager guy gets really angry, looks at both of us and says "bullshit. Now, if he was gay I would believe that, but you're not gay." and storms off.

We immediately got our shit and left. Never been back.

Damn, I was like maybe 21 or so at the time. Had that happened now, I'd have raised all kinds of hell. But barely 21 me, I just quietly got the hell out of there.
