Why I removed my post

I completely understand. I posted in a dog group asking for help making a dog kennel for our retired k9 who can break out of everything. But has trampled our baby on accident and can’t be out with our cats. So we can’t leave her out.

At the end of the post I sarcastically put “we are considering making the closet under the stairs her kennel” because I was upset. Clearly we weren’t doing that.

Someone spent 4 days researching every police department in Texas until they found a photo that matched the one I shared (all my details were private)

They then reported me to the police department for “abusing a retired k9 and locking her under stairs” and photoshopped my comment to make it look like I was really putting her in the closet. Then they sent it to 5 local news stations, and posted it in every animal rescue group in our city where the fake post spread like wildfire.

Luckily I have a lawyer as a family member and I sent this person a cease and desist and told them I was going to sue them when my husband lost his job over this complete lie. I did my own internet research and found out it was some creepy lady living in her moms basement (just like you would think) and after I sent her the cease and desist with her real name, she deleted her posts everywhere and recalled what she wrote.

I spent 4 days messaging people on Facebook to tell them they were spreading a photoshopped image and finally I got all of the posts removed.

It was a nightmare and could have ruined our lives if the news stations had shared.
