I had (past tense... ) a hometown friend who is anti-vaxx. I told her as politely as possible that I won’t be able to see her when I visit home with the newborn until her child is up to date on vaccines. I literally posted my message in an mom’s group that had anti-vaxxers and asked them to critique the message so that it is minimally offensive and I got actual anti-vaxxer approval before sending it. I got a text response three months later saying she needed some time to digest what I said and that I made her cry and that she respects my family’s choices so why can’t I respect hers and “I will not argue”.

Anyway, I never even responded because she had clearly crossed the line from conspiracy theorist into full-on paranoid delusional. Since then she has tried multiple times to rekindle our friendship and I have responded with polite but curt conversation.

She is a respiratory therapist and is now preaching all over Facebook for people to stay home and do their part to protect her from coronavirus.

On top of that, I have a purely speculative theory that she refused the Rhogam shot in her first pregnancy because she previously had no fertility issues and now is suffering from recurring miscarriages.

I would never wish anything bad to happen to her but between being a health worker during a pandemic and suffering infertility possibly as a result of refusing a routine preventative shot it seems like the universe is really trying to serve her up a taste of what she’s been cooking.
