Rooftop shout of the day: stop for pedestrians at crosswalks! Doesn't matter if there is a light!

the problem with people who use their phone and drive seems to be they prioritize using their phone over driving -- i've seen it too many times firsthand. like, it's somehow really important to them that they avert their eyes from the roadway for a long enough period of time that something could have conceivably changed. i'm not advocating this or anything, but it is possible to make it the task of least priority, and essentially do something like very slowly send a text message one letter at a time. if you're not able to glance at your phone for 200 milliseconds to recalibrate and still maintain an awareness of your surroundings, you probably shouldn't be driving, anyway.

again, not advocating this, just saying it is possible for certain individuals.
