"A Rude Awakening is Ahead for Young Employees"

Mr. Greenleaf is out of touch. I remember 2009 very well - I got furloughed and my wife got laid off. We had two car payments and a mortgage at 7%. But this isn't 2009 anymore, not by a longshot. People could still dream in 2009 and houses were still affordable or at least within the realm of possibility for most people. I'm not seeing a whole lot of that now and most younger people I know are very stoic with little hope in the future as they see wages go up far, far slower than inflation and an older boomer generation that ignorantly flaunts their material wealth with no regard to how things have changed. "Work harder!" they say. The younger generation sees no correlation between increased effort and increased wealth. Why should they? I was lucky to get my house when I did, but guess what? I make less than my mom did in 1978 and I have a Bachelor of Science! She had only high school. Not talking inflation adjusted even - I'm talking actual dollars. She worked at a bank opening new accounts and I run specialty equipment for the state. But I have a future and a retirement coming. Most younger people, even state workers, are getting shafted a little more each generation so the older folks and billionaires can get ever more wealthy at the expense of younger generations. The Greatest and Silent generations left more for their boomer offspring than they themselves enjoyed having survived the depression and a world war. The boomers, like Mr. Greenleaf here, are out of touch with modern reality and bloviate like the spoiled children they truly are. If the boomers have anything to teach younger people, it's don't be like them. They voted the people in who made things like they are right now and we all have to pay the price for them having given the run of the hen house over to the fox.
