Sailors and fishermen and other people who spend vast amounts of time on water, what is your scariest or creepiest experience?

Ok, since no one else is going.

One day I was at the pool with my class ( I think this was in elementary school, 2nd or 3rd grade?). I had not learned to swim well yet, and I thought by taking swim lessons, I would be up to par with all of my friends.

*First test: everyone push off the wall to see how far you can go without air, breathing, or drowning.

I pushed off the wall, and my shorts fell off. The kids laughed, teachers laughed, I laughed, the rescue floatation device laughed, we all laughed.

I hurried to the locker room in embarrassment, only to step into the girls room instead of the boys.

My fragile, sheltered mind probably couldn't comprehend anything I saw, all I remember was a purple bag with a pink swimming top at the entrance, making it obvious that non of my friends were in the room; as we all hated the color pink. I stepped out, and then back into the boys locker room.

Swimming lessons didn't always turn out great for me, but I quickly learned to double check the restroom/locker room signs.

Oh...I believe it was a Monday by the way.
