San Francisco police can access private surveillance cameras without search warrants, new law says

Agreed. In a world where we still have issues with police scanning plates and following people home, it's a tough balance IMO. Obviously they need access to information to do their jobs, at the very least some state records (criminal, address, etc) and your ID info. That being said, with more information provides more opportunity for them to do good, unfortunately it also allows them to do more bad.

Its sucks, because at the base of the issue, they simply can't be trusted (yet?), and the level of overhaul the entire state/federal system would need to purge those causing these issues would be monumental. All I know is there's not going to be a quick and easy solution, if we ever find one and manage to enact it.
