Science Ama Series: We are a team of researchers from the Universities of Manchester and Nottingham, UK, working on a 5 year program to enhance the quality of care planning in mental health services. AMA

I have been with Psypher which is an organisation which helps adults deal with psychosis and depression. My care coordinator would come around and just vent. This guy would tell me all about people who had killed themselves since we had last spoke. He did this every week and he literally talked to ME about HIS issues. I let it slide, maybe there is method to his madness, nope. Then the doctor came, he spoke over me at every chance and I did not feel like he was treating me as a person but more like a specimen in a book. I told them I had been molested and was struggling to face up to that fact and that I would have difficulty in articulating it. The last time the doctor came I just thought "fuck it, what's the point?" And told him I wasn't in a good place that day.

Fast forward a few days and I get a letter telling me I was high when he last visited and that the service is no longer available to me because of it.

Now being in the position I am in, what can I do? I had to listen to my care coordinator bitch for weeks and when I finally make progress they shut me down. That's my experience with the care system in the UK. Oh but here is the real kicker, my care coordinator wasn't even qualified. He had done the job 14 here with no qualifications and not one of he people I met were there for any other reason then money, not people.
